Teaching Philosophy
I believe the best method of teaching is one that recognizes the diversity of learning. A single concept can be approached from many angles, and I am committed to finding the best way to communicate with each student. Although I am flexible in the methods that I use to teach, I believe a solid foundation in:

technique (the physical aspects of playing the flute)

sound (the quality and musicality of playing)

repertoire (pieces of music throughout all styles that grow and challenge the player)
are essential for success. I see the potential in each student, and help them reach the next level of mastery.
Lessons
I tailor lessons to the goals of each student. I love working with students of any age and level. In general, lessons will mainly consist of the student playing and receiving feedback. An understanding of both music and the specifics of playing the flute are essential. I place emphasis on students forming their own opinions and conclusions to facilitate meaningful learning. Lessons are available in person or online
Booking Lessons
I provide a free consultation and trial lesson for all new students!
We can chat about your goals or questions such as: where to get a flute, lesson scheduling, etc!
Rates:
$50 for one hour
$45 for forty-five minutes
Cancelation policy: full lesson fee for no show or cancelation with less than twenty-four hour notice
My Students
Who can take music lessons?
Anyone! I love teaching new students (children, teens, and adults) and helping intermediate flute players advance to the next level, whether it’s for a competition, audition, or personal betterment.
I think instruction is important for a player of any level. I know from personal experience, as someone who started studying the flute without private lessons, that having a teacher is extremely helpful!
